Joint visit by a team from AMD International, SIDR, and the Permanent Secretariat for REDD+ to the PPARS project sites in the villages of Koassaga and Voaga, in the commune of Ziniaré, on Monday, October 28, 2024.
The field visit is part of the PPARS Carbon Project. This innovative project, the Carbon Agricultural Production and Soil Restoration Process (PPARS), is led by the Société d’Ingénierie en Développement Durable (SIDR), a partner of AMD International, and with the active support of local farmers. The main objective of PPARS is to promote sustainable agricultural practices that promote carbon sequestration in soils, thus contributing to the fight against climate change.
This outing provided an opportunity to observe the achievements of the PPARS Carbon project firsthand and to appreciate the involvement of local communities in its implementation. The initiative offers a concrete example of how farmers can contribute to environmental preservation while improving their yields. Beyond this positive observation, the visit was also an opportunity to lay the groundwork for future enhanced collaboration between the AMD International/SIDR consortium and the Permanent Secretariat for REDD+. This synergy should amplify the impact of carbon sequestration projects in Burkina Faso and strengthen the country’s contribution to greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
